You may have noticed that our old Roku app is not working for Amazon connections. That is because we have created a new way for you to watch VidAngel on your Roku device.
Now, to use Roku with VidAngel, you need to get our mobile VidAngel app on iOS and Android mobile devices. Make sure it is up to date so it has all our new and innovative updates.
Using the updated app will allow you to cast to your Roku. The best part is, you can close the app on your phone to use your phone for surfing the web, cruising Facebook, or making calls; AND you can use the Roku remote to control the movie once it starts.
Here's how to get started:
First, you'll need the VidAngel app on your iPhone or Android mobile device. Make sure that it's updated to the most current version.
Now get your Roku ready and turned on. Check that your phone is on the same WIFI network as your Roku. To check your wifi on the Roku:
- Go to Settings> System> Network> About (to see what network your Roku is using).
- Please note that dual-band routers offer a 2.4G and a 5G network. Both devices must be on the same one.
Next, pick your movie! Either browse or search for the movie/show you would like to watch. When you find something you would like to watch, set your filters and then tap on the Watch With Amazon (or Netflix) button.
The movie/show will then verify the title.
Once the movie/show is done verifying, you are ready to watch. Tap on the "Watch On TV" button. This will open the casting tab to allow you to pick your Roku to cast too.

Tap on the Roku you want to use and once connected, you will see the "Ready To Play" icon on your TV.

You can control the playback of the movie from your mobile app, or, you can shut off your phone and use the actual Roku remote to control the movie.
If you want to disconnect from the movie you can easily do this by tapping on Disconnect.
- Tap on the "ME" (menu) button at the bottom of your app
- Select "Manage Streaming Services"
- Choose the service you want to connect to and then enter your login credentials for that service when prompted.

After choosing your movie, you can simply press the Filters button at any time to adjust your filters. Click HERE for more information about setting filters in the app.
